8th Grade Course Selection

Let's Choose Your 8th Grade Classes
Deadline has passed-
Please use Course Selection links to make choices.
Then email selections to Mr. Carlin

Hey Bobcats, it's time to select classes for next year. Embedded throughout this page are links to all the documents you'll need to choose classes. There are special instructions for students with an IEP in the yellow highlighted section below. Students meeting this criteria will complete ALL course selections via Google Form instead of Student Connect.

Here's the process for submitting your requests:

1. View the Course Offerings for a description of classes.
2. Print out the Course Selection Worksheet and mark your choices. This is the most important form for Course Selection. ONLY SELECT COURSES THAT APPEAR ON THIS FORM.
3. Log in to Student Connect*

Please do not submit Elective choices in Student Connect

4. View and follow instructions for
How to Select Classes on Student Connect
5. Use your printed Course Selection Worksheet to guide your choices on Student Connect
6. Select your Electives using this Google Form. If you want to be a TA, please email the teacher you would like to TA for. To be an Office TA, email Mr. Carlin. You can review the TA qualifications and responsibilities by reading the application. If your application is accepted, TA will take the place of one of your electives.

*Alternatively, students can download the Student Connect App to submit their courses on their phones. Instructions for getting the app and using it to select courses are here

If you are interested in AVID, here is the link to our AVID Page for the AVID Teacher Recommendation

A quick tip- You'll want to pay close attention to the Course Selection Worksheet because all courses will be visible in Student Connect, including 7th grade courses, and different versions of the same class. For example, when you search for a class like LANG ARTS 8, you will find several versions of LANG ARTS 8. Most have some kind of suffix like ESSN, BASIC, SHLT, HNR, II, etc. To make the right selection, it will be important to note the
course number on the Course Selection Worksheet and make sure it matches the course number you see in Student Connect.

Of course, we are "virtually" here to help you! Email our Dean, Mr. Carlin or our Assistant Principal, Mrs. Juniper with any questions you might have. We can usually get back to you pretty quickly.

If your child has an IEP, the IEP will inform us which core classes to select. Instead of using Student Connect, please send course selections to Mr. Carlin:

Again, please reach out to Mr. Carlin or Mrs. Juniper with any questions you might have.  We look forward to seeing our Bobcats again in August!
