AVID

Our AVID Program includes an elective course for students, tutoring opportunities, and a team building atmosphere.  The goal of AVID is to serve students who may not be thinking about their future college career, and who need additional support and a "kick-start" to tackle their future academics. Students in AVID have a goal to seek 4-year acceptance to university upon high school graduation.  While AVID requires some additional work and development of study skills, it is a great place for students to learn organization and become well-prepared for rigorous coursework in high school and beyond!

How is AVID different from Success for School?
Success is designed to develop and enhance organization, study habits, and social emotional skills to foster success in all courses. Additionally, teachers may provide review and enrichment opportunities in the subject matter they specialize. Many Success teachers also carve out time for students to begin their nightly homework. AVID is a more rigorous class that can generate homework of its own in the form of structured note taking.
